CHARITY CLASSIC HUGE SUCCESS
FOXES IN FREIHOFER'S RUN FOR WOMEN
Dear Foxes, Last weekend about 14 of the Foxes ran in the Freihofers Race. Thank you to Andrea for organizing. Everyone had a great time. Speaking for myself, if one has to go through the pain of running it is so much more fun with a group of friends. It was rather warm, so we all took a scissors to our Arctic Foxes black heavy t-shirts. We were definitely a noticeable group. Next year we hope to have more. Sarah Dakin at 6 months pregnant did the Community Walk, and was then able to cheer the runners on. We definitely heard her. So no excuses next year. We entered as a team. Our top 3 finishers came in 4th place for teams, which is awesome. Those runners were Carla Bengle, Leah Hilton, and Lisa Soeller. But everyone had a great time. Those who participated were Andrea, Maria, Lisa Soeller, Linda Wall,Carla, Leah, Mary Suda, Sue Karp, Jackie Blake, Eileen Bryant, Sarah Dakin, Andrea, and 3 additional friends who aren't Foxes. We also saw Ricky running by us. The full photos were sent to you via Snapfish, the on-line photo store. If you have any problems with seeing or getting photos, let me know. Suzy Ballantyne END OF SEASON PARTY Save the date! Due to our tournaments and Spring Break, we will be holding the End of the Season Party on Friday, May 6, 7-11pm at Ravenswood. $20 includes wine, beer, and appetizers. Reporter Hoda Kotbe interviewed Suzy Ballantyne and Lisa Soeller and showed glimpses of their home life as well. The Foxes' Today Show debut will be shown on United Airlines flights throughout the month of June. Those in-the-know know where to go to see the piece in its entirety. As Al Roker said at the end of the feature "...and unlike the NHL, people actually care if these women play." FOXES EDGE BLADES The Arctic Foxes Travel Team finished off the regular season with a 2-1 victory over the visiting Syracuse Blades, Saturday, March 12, at the Clifton Park Ice Arena, Clifton Park, NY. Syracuse tied the score minutes later, but the Foxes' Dodie Hoyt scored the game winner after a scramble in front found Hoyt down on the ice and the puck in the net. Highlight-reel-worthy goaltending by the Foxes' Kim Morrissette, including a wicked glove save late in the third period, kept the Blades off the scoreboard for the rest of the match. Ice time was arranged for Sunday, May 16 from 9:45-10:45am at the Clifton Park Ice Arena for game photos and interviews and all players and coaches were invited to attend. The format was an intrasquad scrimmage with referees and time clock. The story will be entitled "Women in Motion" and will appear in the November 2004 issue. Its emphasis, according to founding member Lisa Soeller, will be "on the camaraderie of the group, how we keep ourselves going, the things that we do and how we go about them." The issue's release will coincide with the Second Annual Cross-Checking Colon Cancer Women's Ice Hockey Tournament. The Arctic Foxes would like to thank Health Magazine staff writer Tamar Haspel and her photographer Chris for hitting the ice with us. Visit the PHOTOS page for more pictures.
