For Immediate Release, April 15, 2004:
On Saturday May 8th the Jr. Choir, of The First United Methodist Church of Voorheesville
will be hosting The First Annual Colon Club Concert, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The
Jr. Choir and Sr. Choir will be performing along with “The Mike Thomas
Experiment,” featured performers from “The Binghamton Rhythm Method,” The
FUMCV’s own Kyle Schlappi (brother of singer/songwriter Billy Montana),
and more. It will be a casual evening of musical entertainment for the whole
family in the Social Hall of the church, on Maple Avenue (Rt. 85A) in Voorheesville,
including Starbuck’s coffee, and refreshments made by the Jr. Choir.
Admission will be a minimum $5 donation per person to the Colon Club, started
by Molly McMaster, a Saratoga Springs resident, who was diagnosed with colon
cancer at age 23, and Hannah Vogler, whose cousin Amanda died of the disease
at age 27. Their goal is to educate people - especially young people - about
colorectal cancer in interesting and humorous ways. All money raised is spent
in pursuit of this goal and your donation will help them reach that. Literally
millions of people have already been educated by the Colon Club’s latest
project, the Colossal Colon, which was on a twenty-city national tour throughout
2003.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United
States, but it’s also one of the only forms of cancer that can be prevented
just by testing for and removing polyps. People should know the symptoms and
risk factors of colorectal cancer and they should know their own family history
of cancer and colon polyps.

to the Colon Club please make your check payable to THE COLON CLUB, and send
it to:
